Translation of the Holy Qur’an has always been a problematic and controversial issue due to the existence of cultural terms. Although some translators believed that translation of it be done word for word, at times, there were a lot of interpretational versions of the Holy Qur’an in other languages. In this study, Persian and English renderings of cultural-specific terms in the Holy Qur’an are examined from an adequate translation perspective to investigate these translations of the Holy Qur’an with their Arabic version. Also, two interpretational books and one dictionary of the Holy Qur’an were used to support the research. As to the data, 70 cultural terms were gathered randomly from all over the Holy Qur’an, and they were compared and content analyzed. It was concluded that in translating such important texts into the target language, Arabic as simply the dominant language cannot have much effect on translators’ strategies, rather it is the culture that brings about major effects on the strategies applied. On the other hand, it was revealed that the frequency of applying adequate translation by both Persian and English translators was more than non-adequate translation, which showed that they both preferred to be loyal to the original text.
